The opportunity

Reporting to the Privacy Director, we are seeking a Privacy Lead, Technology & Platforms, to enable the responsible, scalable growth of our technology ecosystem. This execution-focused role sits within the enterprise Privacy function and partners closely with engineering, product, and data teams to operationalize privacy by design across systems, workflows, and new initiatives.

You will play a key role supporting key subsidiaries as its privacy program continues to evolve. You will lead the development of privacy-by-design practices, while also contributing to broader enterprise privacy initiatives.

We are focused on bringing in an operator who can step into a hands-on, execution-oriented mandate, with the ability to bring structure, prioritize effectively, and move privacy initiatives forward in a practical, business-aligned way. You will be joining a program that is still maturing, where not all processes, frameworks, or ownership areas are fully defined, and this role will play an important part in driving clarity, consistency, and momentum.

You will translate privacy requirements into scalable, buildable solutions that accelerate innovation without introducing unnecessary risk. Operating at the intersection of privacy, technology, and business, you will ensure privacy is embedded proactively, pragmatically, and measurably across the organization.

This is an existing, fully remote role based anywhere in Canada.

What’s in it for you

Purpose. You will play a critical role in strengthening the trust framework that underpins how healthcare is delivered and experienced. By advancing privacy, security risk governance, and compliance practices, you will help protect sensitive health information while enabling clinicians to access reliable, secure data when and where they need it. Your work will support safer care delivery, reduce organizational risk, and reinforce patient confidence, ensuring innovation across platforms is grounded in responsibility and integrity.

Impact and influence. You will shape how privacy is operationalized within a modern, technology-driven organization and play a key role in maturing the WELLSTAR privacy program. You will define and embed practical frameworks and work across engineering, product, and enterprise risk to drive meaningful impact.

Breadth and growth. You will work across multiple business units and technologies, gaining exposure to AI-driven solutions, EMRs, and evolving digital health platforms. This role offers cross-functional learning and skill expansion beyond traditional privacy roles.  You will operate in a high-trust environment, with autonomy to execute, balanced with support from an experienced leader.

You will:

  • Design and implement solutions. Optimize. You will assess system architectures to identify privacy risks and define pragmatic mitigation strategies. You will translate complex regulatory and policy requirements into clear, implementable technical and operational controls. You will evolve and maintain internal privacy standards, guidelines, and best practices to drive consistency and scalability.
  • Drive change and adoption. You will monitor emerging privacy trends, regulatory developments, and industry standards, and translate them into actionable updates for the enterprise privacy program. You will work with stakeholders to support the adoption of risk mitigation strategies and ensure alignment across business and technology teams.
  • Collaborate. You will work in close partnership with engineering, product, and data teams to embed privacy requirements into the development lifecycle. You will support third-party risk assessments and contribute to strengthening vendor privacy posture and accountability.

Here’s what you bring:

  • The experience. You have a strong technical foundation, with the ability to understand data flows, system architecture, and how applications are built and deployed. You bring experience applying privacy principles in practice, including supporting privacy impact and/or risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies. Exposure to privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) and familiarity with AI governance frameworks are strong assets.
  • The implementation focus and operator mindset. You are a hands-on operator who can take requirements and independently drive them through to completion in fast-paced, evolving environments. You are comfortable working with shifting priorities and bringing structure and clarity where processes are still developing. You are outcome-oriented, practical, and able to translate requirements into execution, knowing when to escalate and when to move forward independently. You bring a continuous improvement mindset, using experience and feedback to refine approaches and improve how work gets done over time.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have exceptional professional communication skills, and you thrive in a cross-functional, high-accountability environment. You can translate complex privacy, legal, and regulatory requirements into clear business guidance, aligning stakeholders around compliant, risk-informed decisions and shared outcomes.
